It’s official! FIFA and Louis Vuitton announced yesterday that Gisele Bundchen will carry the Fifa trophy and its designer case into the pitch of the Maracana stadium on 13 July 2014, the evening of the FIFA World Cup Final.
The Brazilian supermodel and Louis Vuitton brand ambassador will join Carles Puyol, a player on Spain’s 2010 Cup-winning team.
In a press release, Maison Louis Vuitton proclaimed Bündchen as a ‘natural choice’ for the brand and Fifa, for ‘epitomising the Brazilian woman and spreading her country’s colours all over the world’.
The mini trunk, commissioned in 2010 for when South Africa hosted the World Cup, continues Louis Vuitton’s long tradition of creating stylish travel cases for precious belongings.
Gisele had been cyber cheering for her team throughout the matches and when Brazil lost to Germany earlier this week, the model of the moment had tweeted a weeping emoticon. Her appearance at the World Cup final will be the start of her upcoming modelling schedule. She has high profile campaigns lined up with Isabel Marant and Balenciaga for Autumn/Winter 2014, and is set to be the new face of Chanel No.5.
